E-Verify® is a free Internet-based program provided by the United States government that compares Form I-9 information with federal databases.

“E-Verify compares the information an employee provides on Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, against millions of government records and generally provides results in three to five seconds. If the information matches, that employee is eligible to work in the United States.”

Employees are required to complete Form I-9 and provide employers with documentation proving their eligibility to work in the United States.  E-Verify is designed to aid employers to be compliant with U.S. law requiring companies only to hire employees eligible to work in the United States.
